Appostrophe SCRL
Photography Utility, Paywall
For this task, I had to design a paywall screen for Appostrophe’s most popular app — SCRL.
Like most of Appostrophe’s apps, SCRL is freemium in that it is free for the user to download and use, but requires a paid subscription to unlock all content and features.
The main goal of the paywall screen, of course, is to convince as many free users as possible to convert to a paid subscription. Consequently, the primary objective was to improve the app's conversion rate by showcasing its key features in a more compelling way.
I noticed that the previous design only included text descriptions of the paid features, which are typically less convincing, especially for an app targeted towards a creative audience.
To address this issue, I decided to incorporate visual examples of the features wherever possible, and also explored the possibility of including a demo video or a GIF to showcase the app's capabilities.
The copy in this view is meant to put the spotlight on the potential user, and their aspirations for using the app — by highlighting what the user can achieve with the app, I aimed to sell the dream rather than just the tool itself.
Additionally, I emphasised the trial period and terms of service for the sake of transparency, as it's a vital factor that users consider when deciding to try a new app.
